Title:
SP GP40-2 7620
Description:
SP GP40-2 7620, Tucson, Arizona, November 21, 1985, photo by Chuck Zeilev. Built in March 1978 (c/n 776071-13) , it became UP 1305 September 9, 2001. When the lease expired (sometime between July and September 2002), it was returned to GE, recondhtioned by GE-Mexico, and either leased or sold to the IHB, becoming IHB 4013. I have no information about the apparent bad day this locomotive had sometime previous to this photo date.

Title:
SP GP40-2 7954
Description:
SP GP40-2 7954, Tucson, Arizona, November 21, 1985, photo by Chuck Zeiler. This locomotive was built in May 1980 (c/n 796354-15), and was one of 28 mother units (GP40-2's and GP40R's) equipped to transfer power to trailing TEBU units, one of which (#1609) is seen here. The TEBU's were former U25B's with the prime movers removed, but retaining traction motors, fuel tanks, and dynamic brakes. The TEBU was equipped with pumps and sensors to sense fuel loads on the mother units and pump fuel from the TEBU tank to keep all locomotives balanced. On the left is GP40-2 7620, having suffered some wreck damage and awaiting repairs.
