A southbound behind a long hood forward SD 45 roll past the yard office in a thunderstlrm, making a little thunder of its own as it passes. Hell pull down about 60 carlengths, and the head brakie will pull the cut lever, allowing the cars to be pulled ahead!and set off in the yard. |

Southern still had quite a few SD45s in service in 1984, and we see some here. Second from left is SOU 3129, a unit that seemed to folllow me any time I was in their territory. I had seen it in Greensboro in 1980, and would see it again in Kansas City in 1986. |

An auto rack train arrives at Kansas City on the ex Wabash. We have a "family portrait" of NS power here, one unit in NS and one each of the predecessors. The SD45 is not long for the world at this point, nor are the open racks. I had seen the second unit before-on the Southern at Greensboro in 1980. |
