BN GP35 2529
Title:  BN GP35 2529
Description:  Burlington Northern Railroad GP35 2529 at Cicero, Illinois on an unknown day in December 1979, Kodachrome by Chuck Zeiler. This locomotive was built in March 1964 (c/n 28980) as CB&Q GP35 983. Sometime after the BN merger (March 2, 1970) it became BN 2529, and during August 1990 it was rebuilt to GP39E 2940. Not obvious is the typical CB&Q horn placement over the first radiator fan. The CB&Q had experienced a problem with the GP20 horns filling with snow, and on subsequent orders from EMD had the horns located over the radiator fan to keep them thawed out in the winter.
