I never thought about this until seeing your picture: Obviously this goat is MU'ed with the road diesels but how is it used. I'm assuming that it's in this lashup for delivery purposes but is it being used? If so how? Does it act as a slug drawing power from the road units or does it run it's own generator to keep up, or is it offline and just cabled through? Never realized that it was so big either. Nice shot, interesting subject.

Rick, MU is probably just for pass-through to the trailing unit. If you look at the stacks, all six of them are closed, so the three enigines at the very least aren't under load in either photo. RPRX 5402 is a brand-new RP20BD demonstrator on its way from CAD Rail in Quebec to the BNSF in Chicago and who-knows-where from there. For the record, this is an all diesel "genset" switcher, not a hybrid GG20B "Green Goat". Great photos and great catch, by the way. Keep an eye peeled. They've been moving out of CAD one a day for several days. RPRX 5405 is south of Detroit now, RPRX 5404 is in London, Ont. and 5403 is expected out of Montreal tomorrow. Thanks for posting.
