PC Caboose #19860 - Penn Central
Interesting photo taken at Maybrook, NY, by Paul Kuehner that shows a diversity of equipment. EX-NH caboose #652 now labeled PC. EL 829 and EL 821 passes through the scene for a different flair. PC RS11 #7667 also pokes into the photo.

Tom Beckett General If this is 1973, those EL E's are still very much part of Erie Lackawanna, and not PC power. For that matter, I can't figure what they'd be doing at Maybrook. There were still a few in the commuter pool out of Hoboken at the time, covering the Port Jervis trains, but the ones that had been regeared for freight were mostly working out of Marion OH by then. It would have been REALLY unusual for an E 8 to be working a local that would be doing interchange work to the PC and L&HR. If this was after C-day in 1976, it's unlikely Maybrook would have had this much power there. It was downgraded pretty severly after the Poughkeepsie bridge fire in 1974-not that PC minded. Even then, the EL E's were largely retired almost immediately following Conrail start up. They kept 825 and 833, which worked the Cleveland-Youngstown commuter train, with 825 moving east to Jersey after that came off in early 1977. It became CR 4014, spending its time on the Jersey Coast Line to Bay Head. The 833 became CR 4 6/13/2022 4:25:44 AM
