2017 CN/GTW "Santa Train"  Contributor's Pick!       
Canadian National’s yearly “Santa Train” passes the old Durand, Michigan train station, December 17, 2017. This station was originally built in 1903 and has daily Amtrak service. The train is running on CN’s subsidiary railroad Grand Trunk Western and is connecting west from Pontiac, MI. Lead locomotive #5930 is a Grand Trunk Western SD40-2 painted in CN paint and sublettered “GTW.” The other engine, #9614, is a GP38-2 from the Illinois Central and is also in CN paint, sublettered “IC.” CN purchased Illinois Central Railroad in 1999.
