IC 9625
Thirty five years ago, this was the Soo Line yard in Neenah. The yard was usually quite full and bustling with activity. The Soo seemed to be the most prosperous railroad of the three serving the area. (Milwaukee Road and Chicago and Northwestern being the other two) Naive thinking had one believe the Soo would be around forever. The Milwaukee Road was up for sale, and would be gone, but not the Soo. The CNW also figured to be around for a long to come. It was only a matter of less than ten years for all three to be gone. Of the two yards in town, only the Soo Line yard remains serving close to its original purpose. There are many less boxcars, and the Soo white, red and black a fading memory. Back in 1982, a teenage rail fan, took it all for granted and would have never imagined the CN coming in and absorbing it all.

David Krebs General Same here when UP bought the Missouri Pacific, then Missouri Kansas and Texas, then Southern Pacific. Thought I would always have them around! 11/16/2017 8:24:09 PM
