Lightning Stripes on the Hurley Flats
On May 27th 2017, the Catskill Mountain Railroad began running their regularly scheduled Summer trains by starting the operation of a new Kingston-based passenger train known as the Catskill Mountain Flyer. New York Central and their famed "Lightning Stripes" almost appear to still be riding the rails of the former NYC Catskill Mountain Branch as the Catskill Mountain Railroads #401, an ex-Green Mountain Railroad ALCo-GE RS-1, rolls to a stop with the Catskill Mountain Flyer at the Route 209 Crossing on the Hurley Flats to allow the crossing to be flagged before proceeding west up Hurley Mountain.
