MEC’s #470 was the last active steam on the Maine Central. In this 1938 scene 470 is at the Lewiston Upper platform headed west. C2016 this locomotive has been purchased by the New England Steam Corp from the City of Waterville for eventual restoration at Washington Jct outside of Ellsworth. It made the last run on the Maine Central dead heading back to Waterville after it’s last pubilc run on the Main Line between Portland and Bangor. #470 was retired in June of 1954.
