Built in 1962 by Pacific Car & Foundry (known today as PACCAR) as SP economy baggage #6733, 1 of 100 such cars (#6701-#6800) built in that Lot. The #6733 was 1 of 13 PC&F baggage cars that were leased to Amtrak through 1978, when 6 of the 13 were acquired in a trade for 2 ex-PRR Budd-built blunt end lounge observation cars. The other 7 PC&F cars, including #6733, were returned to SP. The #6733 was stored until converted to head end power car #295 (2nd). The #295 (1st) was formerly DAYLIGHT news stand-chair #2390, which was retired in 1976. The #295 (2nd) was sold in circa 2001 by UP to the Alaska RR as #110. Scanned with an Epson V550 from a Kodachrome original 35mm slide. |
