Lumber Rd  Contributor's Pick!
One of the best locations you cant shoot from anymore is the Lumber Rd overpass in Gang Mills. It was at the east throat of the yard, and offered a great view of westbounds most of the day. You could also watch some of the yard action, and see the engine house. When NY rebuilt US 15/NY 417-the highway to the left-the bridge was removed, making shots like this impossible. The bare spot on the hillside in the distance is where the NY 17 bypass is being built. It will take through traffic off Dennison Highway for the short stretch it still ran downtown in Corning, part of the project that will enable NY 17 to become I 86. It will open in October 1995, to everyones relief-especially the fans, since it will allow the chase to continue with a hope of catching a train before reaching Addison.
