NS 5281 enters the Staley corn syrup plant to pick up a load of tank cars. Amtrak's bridge that carries the NEC spans the Deleware River into New Jersey is seen in the background. The stone arch viaduct was completed by the Pennsylvania Railroad in Approx 1906. It still to this day carries Amtrak, NJ Transit, SEPTA, as well as an occasional Conrail (CSAO) local freight across the river. The viaduct has truly withstood the test of time! |
