| Chicago Burlington & Quincy Railroad 0-6-0 Class G-10 565 I believe in Lincoln, Nebraska, sometime in 1956, negative by Dick Rumbolz, Chuck Zeiler collection. Number 565 was built by Baldwin in 1904 as 2-6-2 Prairie CB&Q class R-4 number 1908 (c/n 24466), retired in July 1929 and rebuilt into a class G-10 0-6-0 and renumbered 565. A total of 35 R-4's (out of the original 40) were converted to 0-6-0's and given road numbers 560-594. Some of these lasted into the 1950's. This one retained the inboard piston valves of the R-4 when rebuilt, although 14 R-4's received new cylinders and Walschaerts valve gear during 1925. |
