That Little Box you see on the side of the track with the hoses is called what is known as a Flange Greaser NS 2652 shown here passing over the flange Greaser Flange Greasers are used for Steam Engines for traction on the rails when wet.

Flange Greasers add a touch of lubricant to the flanges of the wheels to take the edge off them during a tight turn. This in turn slows down track wear and prolongs the rail without replacement. Now to the picture....I love the look of a new engine. Good shot.

The color on the plow is just the light, they were black. These units had just been placed in service in Chattanooga aprox 36 hours before this shot was taken.
