Sadly, this montster steam locomotive was caught sitting in the scrap line at Cheyenne, WY. History - Alco-Schenectady, 8.1944, serial #72801, After almost 15 years of service, the loco was"vacated" in June of 1959. The date of the photo shows it in a storage/scrap line.Specs - 69" drivers, impressive 280psi boiler pressure, four 21x32" cylinders, engine weight of 634,500 lb and tractive effort of 97,350 lb.
