| An eastbound KCS rocket motor train was parked along the Norfolk Southern BACK BELT at Shrewsbury Junction. Trains such as this transported segments of the solid fuel rocket motors for the NASA space shuttles between Morton Thiokol's rocket fuel plant in Corinne, Utah and the Kennedy Space Center in Florida via the UP-KCS-CSX-FEC. This train consisted of KCS SD40X 702 and SD40 629, escort car JANICE L., three covered hoppers, 16-wheel rocket motor flat cars MP 865025 and UP 50030, a covered hopper 500010, 8-wheel flat car UP 57952, a covered hopper, 16-wheel flat car SCL 109102, two more covered hoppers and four tank cars. |
