CB&Q GP7 210
CB&Q GP7 210 at Naperville, Illinois on February 25, 1965, Ektachrome by Chuck Zeiler. Built in September 1951 (c/n 13179) on EMD Order 5072 for 40 GP7's, it became BN 1566 and was retired in March 1983. It is seen here backing the East End Way Freight out of Naperville onto Track 1, and will cross over all three of Burlington's main tracks to end up on Track 3. The way freight will then head east to switch industries between here and Congress Park, where it will reverse and head back to its point of origin, Eola, spotting 210 at the roundhouse for servicing.

Olaf Junges General Nice historic shot! 1/24/2009 1:23:34 PM
Joe LeMay General Were there hand-thrown crossovers west of the depot? 3/15/2010 4:22:34 PM
Chuck Zeiler General The crossovers were hand-thrown, but electronically locked. There was a separate machine next to each ground throw connected to the points and were unlocked by the Dispatcher. There was a phone box on either side of the tracks to call the Dispatcher to get them unlocked and once unlocked the signal bridge diplayed red in both directions above the track(s) that were unlocked. 3/15/2010 9:18:19 PM
Gregg Bartley General Got milk? (Sorry, but that was the first thing that came into my mind when I saw this shot...) 3/10/2014 2:10:42 PM
