Y150 heads down the P&N
The trestle above is the abandoned former ACL main. It was re-aligned in the 50s or 60s when they finished the tunnel under the Southern Main. I guess it was used as a connection track to the SOU afterwards, now the rails are gone

John James General That is the former C&WC mainline that used to connect from Augusta. It was abandoned in 1968-69 when the tunnel was completed. C&WC/ACL used to pay the SOUTHERN a toll fee for every car that passed over from C&WC to the Clinchfeild over their trackage prior to the tunnel being built. My dad work for the ACL and was one of the first engineers to pass through the tunnel. If you look at this site on Google maps, you can see the old path the trains used to take. Awesome shot, Thanks!!! 12/24/2011 10:59:57 AM

Eugene Cain General Other Pictures on this site show the trestle still in use as late as 1983. I would like to know when it was actually abandoned. I saw it in 1986 for the first time and it looked like it may have just been abandoned. The Kudzu hadn't taken over the north end of the bridge yet. 7/16/2013 12:38:41 PM
