Title:
End of the Ex-MP Line From Sherman to Whitesboro
Description:
Two TRAX open hopper sit on a siding about one mile from downtown Shreveport. This line, now operated by the TNER, is the former MP line from Sherman to Whitesboro. From downtown Sherman, the line crosses a freeway (Hwy. 75) over a long girder bridge then moves through a fairly upscale residential neighborhood with a lot of historic homes. Now, the line passes by a few historic homes then stops about one hundred yards past them at this location. You can't even see the track of the branch line itself due to the high grass. You can see a little of the ballast on the siding. When I lived in Sherman 25 years ago, I used to love watching freights toddle through the neighborhood on their way t o Whitesboro.
