Title:
BO 2-8-0 #1598
Description:
This 1899 Baldwin built Consolidation was caught by F. J. Bandi parked along with others in the Washington, IN, yard. Originally built for the B&OSW as a class H-2 member with the original number of 298, it was acquired by B&O in 1904, reclassified it as E-26 around 1905 and eventually retired 7/19/35. There is still a yard in Washington, IN, which I believe serves CSX now.

Title:
BO 2-8-0C #1635 - Baltimore & Ohio
Description:
One of the more unusual configurations to last into the 20th century is this camelback center cab model captured by Ralph G. Dunn while the loco sat in the neighborhood of Clifton in Staten Island, NY. Built by Burnham, Wms & Co (Baldwin predecessor) in October of 1896, the locos were rebuilt in the camelback arrangement. Camelback specs - serial #15019, class E-13b, 54" drivers, 180 psi boiler pressure, 22x28" cylinders, engine weight of 168,000 lb, tractive effort of 38,397 lb. Some records show that the class was retired in 1927 but others have the scrapping taking place in the 1940's. The date on this photo makes the latter true.

Title:
BO 2-8-0C #1636 - Baltimore & Ohio
Description:
Here's another example of an unusual configuration to last into the 20th century is this camelback center cab model captured!by Ralph G. Dunn. Built by Burnham, Wms & Co (Baldwin predecesor) in October of 1896, the camelback configuration was a B&O conversion from the original design. Specs - serial #15020, E-13b, 54" drivers, 180 psi boiler pressure, 22x28" cylinders, engine weight of 168,000 lb, tractive effort of 38,397 lb. Although some sources list the class being retired in 1927, others have the scrap dates in the 1940's. This photo suggests the latter is true.

Baltimore & Ohio 2-8-0 #2952, ex C&C
Description:
Only example of a class E-36 in this album built by Baldwin in 1916, one of the newer style Consolidations. This loco was originally built for the C&C Railroad but renumbered in 1918 when B&O bought out the C&C. This loco served until retirement in December, 1949. Unfortunately this is another photo with no locaiton or date information on it so they have been arbitrarily set.
