BAR 4-6-0 #68 Boiler Explosion |
Description: |
Nice older photo of the remains of BAR #68 after a boiler explosion some time in 1895. Specs - D-1 class, 63" drivers, 180 psi boiler pressure, 20x26" cylinders, engine weight of 144,500 lb, tractive effort of 25,257 lb. Since this data base will not accept dates before 1900, it has been arbitrarily listed as 1/1/1900 although the correct date for the photo is 2/9/1895. The photo is from the Ray F. Higgins collection |
