PRR 7104, EFS-17M, 1964 |
Description: |
Tipton. Here is an original photo that I took of a Pennsylvania Railroad train in Tipton, Pennsylvania, on 11 April 1964. Shown here (L to R) are PRR engines #7104 and #7111. Both are EFS-17M's built by EMD and rated at 1,750 horsepower each; #7104 was built in 1956, but #7111 was built in 1957. They are pulling a 135-car eastbound coal train along with caboose #477866. |

PRR Juniata E&M Shop Yard, 1966 |
Description: |
Altoona Action. Here is an original 35mm color slide by an unidentified photographer that was taken at the Pennsylvania Railroad's Erecting & Machine Shop storage yard in Altoona, Pennsylvania, in June of 1966. Among the numerous locomotives depicted here is PRR engine #8968, a BS-16M road switcher built by Baldwin-Lima-Hamilton in June of 1951 and retired in July of 1966. Beyond it is PRR engine #7104, an EFS-17M built by GM-EMD in November of 1956 and rated at 1,750 horsepower. |

PRR 7105, ES-17M, 1963 |
Description: |
Mann. Here is a duplicate 35mm color slide via Al Chione that was taken near Gallitzin, Pennsylvania, on 23 June 1963. The photographer is not identified. Shown here (L to R) are Pennsylvania Railroad engine #7105 and another "Geep" whose road number is not recorded. Both were built by GM-EMD and rated at 1,750 horsepower each. #7105 was constructed in May of 1957. In this context, they're about to enter one of the Gallitzin Tunnels with a short iron-ore train ~ as evidenced by the cabin car and rear-end pushers, just down grade a bit. The two eastbound tracks just out of the New Portage Tunnel ~ aka "The Slide" ~ are visible at the right. ("PrrFan18n") |
