NYC 3820 - New York Central "Sharknose" |
Description: |
Nice photo by an unknown photographer of the "Sharknose" New York Central #3820. Built by Baldwin in January of 1952 (serial #75356), the distinctive "sharknose" design was to distance this model from previous Baldwins that had been plaqued by problems. The model proved to be a successful freight mover. Later this unit would be renumbered 1220 before being scrapped in the late 1960's. |

NYC 3820 & 3810 |
Description: |
NYC Sharks 3820 and 3810 sit in Cincinnati's Riverside Yard. The Our Lady Of Perpetual Help Catholic Church looms in the background. As of 2023, the church is abandoned but still standing, having closed in 1989. The yard has been scaled back, with part turned into an industrial park. The Sharks are long gone. K. L. Douglass photo, from the Ralph L. Phillips collection of the Bay State Model Railroad Museum. |
