Description: |
BYC. Here is a duplicate 35mm color slide of a photo by David R. Sweetland that was taken just East of the Brick Yard Crossing in Altoona, Pennsylvania, in May of 1961. Shown here (R to L) are Pennsylvania Railroad engine #9858, an "EF" Class "A" unit, as well as an "A"-"B" combo of "AF" Class locomotives. #9858 is an EFP-15 built by GM-EMD in July of 1952 and rated at 1,500 horsepower. They are pulling a mixed-cargo freight train up the Allegheny Mountains via the Horseshoe Curve to Gallitzin and points West. Also visible at the right is a portion of the Brick Yard proper. |
