WSOR 3802 on M1 |
Description: |
The M1 crew pulls their train back out into the wind and snow after passing under the Monona Terrace convention center. This crew just got finished switching the UW-Madison Heater plant on Charter street, and now they're taking empties back to WSOR's main yard in Madison at E. Johnson street. The MAJ passed through here about 20 minutes ago, going in the opposite direction. To the left (east) of the building is the frozen Lake Monona, and the 30mph winds out of the NE are doing a good job of flying across the lake and blasting snow onto my face while I take this picture. |

WSOR 3808 |
Description: |
The M2 job approaches Second street, just shy of the switch for the connecting track to the E. Johnson street yard. The switch is lined normal right now, which would take them to the yard, but the M2 is taking the "back leg" today. Yarding their 50-some car train would be a pain if they came in the 'normal' way. |

Colorful lashup |
Description: |
There's no shortage of color in this lashup. The 40s belong to WSOR while the green loco, technically a GP10, is headed to WSOR's Horicon, WI shops for a paint job. The WSOR received this locomotive from the BNSF at Crawford. Contract paint work keeps the shops busy at Horicon and might be a reason why WSOR's newest additions to their roster (like Mean Mrs. Mustard here) don't wear the sharp red and silver WSOR scheme. |

Autumn colors came early this year... |
Description: |
A colorful lashup leads this Janesville-bound freight as it departs Madison. A J2 crew is working the return portion of this train today. Ordinarily it would have left town for Jville earlier in the morning, but the timing and 70 or so cars in the consist suggest that there was a lot of on-line work for the JM crew. |
