Description:  The shape of things to come? Like Amtraks first new diesel locomotive (the EMD SDP40F), its first new electric, the GE E60CP, was far from a success. Here is one at the Race Street Engine Terminal in Philadelphia in May 1978, equipped with grills on the windows to protect the crew from rocks thrown by teenagers, a common problem at the time.
