Album Info:South Amboy, NJ was the end point for electrification for trains arriving out of NYC. South Amboy operations included an electric staging area and MU yard a few blocks north of the old station, and a large engine terminal just past the staging area near the Raritan river. This album compares South Amboy in the late 1970’s to early 1980’s with the current operations out of the new South Amboy station at Augusta St. In the 1970’s, the old station was near Henry and John St, with the nearby staging area and engine terminal past Augusta St. Demolition of the passenger overpass began in 2018 and was complete by March, 2020. Great thanks go to Steve Coraggio for providing 2016-2020 views of the old station site, the new station, just outside of town views, and a thorough look of the passenger overpass demolition. Included also are Steve's October, 2017 images of CSX and NJT action.
